From haunted houses to trick or treating, Northern Michigan is full of Halloween's fun activities during October.
Northern Michigan grows the best. Our Farmers Markets are open from late spring to fall, from cherries, to potatoes, to sweet corn, and more.
Apple Fest. Held each year on the second weekend of October, Apple Fest turns downtown Charlevoix into a festive and fun place to be.
Skitoberfest celebrates the best of fall's family offerings in an Oktoberfest style setting., all at amazing Boyne Mountain!
Fort Fright
This event includes spooky bonfires storytelling, hot mulled cider, cookies, candy, a haunted house, a demon walk, and a werewolf walk. Tickets are $12 for Adults, $8 for children age 5-12, and free for children 4 and under. Colonial Michilimackinac– 800 N. Huron Ave., Mackinaw City.
Great Turtle Trail Run
The 5.7 Mile Run/Walk and Half Marathon starts and ends directly in front of Mission Point Resort- One Lakeshore Dr., Mackinac Island. To register, visit runmackinac.com.
Fall Festival
Harbor Springs Marina Park- 250 E. Bay St., Harbor Springs. Live music, corn hole, donut eating contest this weekend. Food available for purchase and farmer’s market in the morning.
Alanson Fall Festival
This annual event features donuts from the Dutch Oven, cider from Uncle Franks, pumpkin painting and carving, food, Business Poker Run for Prizes and more. Downtown Alanson. Visit petoskeyarea.com for more information.
Petoskey Rotary Club’s Annual Fall Festival

Blissfest Country Dance
Enjoy traditional country dances like contra, square, and waltz for $10 per person, $5 per student, kids 12 & under free. Pot luck from 6-7:30pm, please bring your own table service. Lakeview Cemetery Tours
explore the history of Harbor Springs earliest residents on a guided walking tour of Lakeview Cemetery. The 90 minute tour features the graves of a dozen citizens. Tickets are $15 and can be purchased at harborspringshistory.org.
Autumn Trail Day
Bring a camera or binoculars to enjoy 3.5 miles of trails along the banks of Mill Creek. Staff will be on hand to answer questions, guide the walk, and tell stories around a campfire at the Forest Clearing. Free, open-house style event. Historic Mill Creek Discovery Park– 9001 W. Lions Annual Soup in a Bread Bowl Supper
Tickets are $10 per person and the event will be held at Pancake Chef- 327 E. Central Ave., Mackinaw City.
Autumn at McGulpin Point
See spectacular views of the Straits of Mackinac with a free, self-guided tour to the top of the lighthouse tower. Enjoy complimentary cider and donuts with us while you explore the lighthouse and gift shop. McGulpin Point Lighthouse- 500 Headlands Rd., Mackinaw City.
OMFA Fiddlers Jamboree and Square Dance

Halloween Fun in Petoskey
Downtown Trick-or-Treat from 10am-12pm. Parade at 10am from Central Elementary (410 State St.) down Howard Street to Pennsylvania Park (411 E. Lake St.). Annual Jack ‘O Lantern Walk… bring an already carved or decorated pumpkin to Pennsylvania Park between 1-6pm for a chance to win $50 in Downtown Dollars. Jack ‘O Lanterns will be lit and on display beginning at sunset.
